Bendigo TAFE
‘Interactive Screen’

Challenge

Bendigo Kangan Institute incorporates several educational facilities. They needed a dynamic interactive video screen wall to capture the attention of visitors to their new Bendigo TAFE building.

The brief was to communicate their offerings regarding health services as a “living work of art”. The opportunity for Fizz Farm to create a purely visual piece that would be presented on a grand scale in a flagship location was exciting. As a bonus, the piece would need to be responsive to human movement — a challenging technological feat. Our response? Bring it on.

Solution

Fizz Farm designed and created a looped video piece for a 3 x 3 matrix of 50 inch screens, boldly built into the foyer of the new TAFE building. An 2D and 3D animated program that responds to movement as people walk past the installation, we partnered with a developer to achieve the technology required.

The team designed elements for the piece based on the heart and spirit of the local community. Iconic Bendigo locations were photographed bathed in gorgeous late-afternoon light, and incorporated into the visuals. The health assets, such as a 3D animated 1.5 metre DNA spiral, are stunningly eye-catching, and encourage maximum engagement with the screen.

Wireframe technology, mapping and timing had to be dead-on, to ensure the whole thing hung together successfully. The team at Fizz Farm eat tech for breakfast, and love to merge beautiful visual imagery with cutting edge digital mechanics.

Result

Visitors to Bendigo TAFE are greeted with a dynamic installation that communicates and inspires. The new building’s place as a state-of-the-art facility is announced by the bold visual statement in the foyer. The installation successfully welcomes visitors and students alike, and is a great tool with which to connect with an audience.
